Morning all.

Does anyone in the Lincs/Notts area of UK have a couple of old head bolts I can beg/borrow steal/buy as guides for refitting my twin-cam head?

Many thanks

10mm nylon rod with threads cut is much better than old head bolts. No risk of scraching the head face with nylon rod. You can buy it from Ebay.

Thanks. Do you happen to know the thread detail for the die nut I would have to also buy?

Andrew,

I am pretty sure I have some old head bolts, but I need to check I have not binned them. I live in the north east corner of the county just south of Grimsby. Please let me know if you still want them, and I will organise a search!

Hope this helps,

Richard Hawkins

Thanks Richard. There may be some very close by with Thornts of this parish failing that I will take up your kind offer and discuss the next stage in the plan

A Die Nut is only for cleaning a Thread not for cutting a new Thread

I just bought a length of 7/16 UNC threaded rod (Ebay) and covered the exposed length (I.E. not in the block) with masking tape. Worked fine.

Nice idea. No die-ing required!

Correction - not masking tape, I used plumbing PTFE tape.

I doubt it mattered. Masking, PTFE, Elec. insulation tape or none.
