Lotus Elan and Lotus Elan Plus 2 Forums

About ten years ago I bought an Elan from a local guys widow. I got all of his spare parts including this engine. I think it is from a series two Cortina. Can anyone confirm this. I know at one time he had an Elan coupe that sold many years ago and I thought an original Lotus Cortina. I don't remember a later Cortina but maybe he just found this engine. It has slightly domed pistons. I don't know what the suffixes to the engine number mean and I think the decal with all of the specs on the cam cover is interesting. I guess I am just bored so digging it out and making an engine stand holder for it. Gary

With LP number Id say its an Elan engine, pistons look like standard or sprint type.
