my water pump seal is leaking from the weep hole.
question: to buy some time, can i plug up (seal) the weep hole to prevent further coolant loss/seepage or will this do damage (like forcing water into the oil sump)?
My bearing is fine, there's no noise or looseness, just coolant seeping from the weep hole.
Has anyone done this? how long with it last? any comments?
I just want to buy some time.
thanks

Dont plug the hole, it will just allow water to go into the bearing and destroy it. New seals often do weep slightly until the seal beds in so it is not uncommon. The weep hole is there to allow any weep to run away without going into the bearing.
If it has quite a few miles on it and it is leaking badly then the chances are it needs a new seal but it would be false economy to replace just the seal and not the bearing.

Hi
I had a friend who a small leak from the drain that he ran for two years before he got around to getting it replaced.
Don't panic it may bed in, give it a chance
Good luck
