Engine Rebuild starts Monday.

I now have the crank installed and the flywheel attached.

All the new QED rings have been gapped and found OK.

So next are the piston / rods etc. I've balanced the weights of the rods to within about 0.5 grams
and the piston + pins are, (1 > 4), 481 482 481 483 grams.

Is it worth balancing the pistons? If so, I assume that metal should be removed from the skirt?

Any other advise or tips?

Yes I would balance the pistons to within 1 gram like the rods. I would take weight from the front and back of the skirt not on the side thrust faces or the inner end of where the wrist pin mounts.

Front / back of the skirts - good plan.
I'll take No1 (481 grams) down to where the dial flickers between 480 and 481. Then take the others down to match.
