I have an early twincam, LP3489 LBA, four bolt crank, mk 1 head, all std valve sizes, un-skimmed & correct compression ratio, std Lotus spec'd 40 DCOE's & correct spec dizzy for std engine. The cam's have no groove or identifying marks, they give std cam valve timing & have a lift of .374/5. Given the info in MW's book, I had always assumed they were just Lotus std cams.
Do you know what base circle the cams have. That will tell you if they have probably been reground at some stage to a non original lift. 0.375 could never have been a standard production lift as you are just to close to valve spring bind
cheers

I don't know what the base circle is, must confess I never thought to measure it. I did measure the lift as the lobes are noticeably taller than the SE cams I had sitting on the bench at the time, but also much skinnier, giving less duration. As said, they give as close to std valve timing for me to just assume that's what they were. Didn't do any other measurements or compare valve springs etc, but the head is actually on my +2 at the moment with those cams in & running on a pair of 151 dcoe's jetted & choked to std specs. It gives shed loads of low end power, very tractable & will tick over at 600 -700 rpm all day long. It does loose out at the top end, but I never really go there much nowadays. I have the correct B/V head needing a rebuild, but haven't got round to it, as much because I like the characteristics of the engine as is, as anything else. Guess I'll get to it one day, but there's always something else to do
QMM, congratulations on getting your cams, you have more luck than me, I've completely given up on ebay, everything I want, it seems the world & it's wife wants too. If it had been me, I suspect they'd have ended up closer to your ?1000
Can't remember the last thing I won, it was a good while ago now.
