+1 , i'm sure the mk11 (6 bolt crank) bolts will do very nice .
Not wishing to tell you how to suck eggs but i think a very light reface of the spot faces would not go a miss + nice flat washers.
p.s. You could use 2 of the broken bolts as dowels to position the head and aligne gasket 100%
Good luck
Alan

Thanks Alan, I'll do that spot facing. I already use a pair of old bolt-dowels but this time will make sure that there is thread above the block to align it centrally; I can't remember if I've done that before.
Am now reduced to cleaning, decoking and re-assembly, boring, but perhaps this really will be for the last time.

I've started negotiating for the spot facing and it looks like another ?100 job. Cheaper than a gasket set and pile of bolts every time one breaks. I believe I'm still using the original washers as I don't remember ever sawing the edges off the two corner ones. No wonder they are dished; I'll keep the QED ones and just return the bolts once my s/h set arrives.
I have an old oven I used to fit a couple of ring gears in the past, once successfully, once not so. But I've put the flywheel in the freezer this time and it's down to -25? C so that gains me 40? expansion! I've now got a 10-tooth pinion to reduce the likelyhood of seizure, according to Buckland.
I'm trying to obtain a set of SE cams, even Sprint, but am starting a separate thread of queries for that.

I really don't see the need to bother with spot facing. If the surface looks good (which it does) there should be no need. Just use decent bolts and see what happens. We've established that the failed bolts were all from one supplier. Given the value of Lotus heads the less metal you take off them the better. It's easy to remove metal but a whole lot harder to put it back on!
