Engine cooling fan differences S4

Shown here is the cooling fan that came off my Federal '72 Sprint, 0243K, Note that it has two male spade
connectors, recessed, 180 degrees apart from each other. Now, I've been seeing cooling motors with two
wires coming out of one location.

Is the difference simply a supply thing? Or, did Federal cars get something different? Anxious to hear
what your S4 has.

Hi,
I think you are looking at an early and later design of the same motor, motor with leads are the earlier types and have a wound field coil. Motors with spade terminals are a later design and have a permanent magnet field and are polarity dependent. Later types are much lighter but I think the speed etc. is basically the same. This is a generalisation only.
