Faced with an unobtainable part I brain stormed what was available elsewhere. Google'ing Elbows I saw planty of PVC elbows, so a trip to Home Depot was in order ( think B&Q Brits.)
$2.96 + tax later I had the following parts:
I then used my table saw to slice approx 1/4" off each end of the coupling & shortened the elbow:
I then increased the size of the hole in one of the threaded coupling slices & PVC glued it in place:
Painted everything:
Then added a 1.4" across flats on the moveable coupling (so it would fit between the pipes inside the heater box,) added duct tape to increase the outlet diameter to 1 1/4" & assembled the elbow to the heater box & voila:
