I had a fit when I realised there were only sleeves in one side, Dad didn't even bat an eyelid, as far as he was concerned it was no big deal, they had a few early half moon heads before getting in the Cosworth motors and I gather that they (Elfin Racing Cars) weren't fussed about the lack of sleeves, they certainly didn't have any problems with any of them whilst Dad was there - from 64 through to 68 - he left before any lip seal motors arrived.

Cosworth Twin Cam engine in a Brabham at Longford in 64 (Ed Holly's car these days - he'll correct me if I'm wrong!) - Earlier than our Mk 16 in any event - a half moon head on it - Ed says it gives power these days! (I'm sure it did back then too!)

Finally mounted my ring grinder onto the bench and gapped the piston rings for the new motor in readiness for the Christmas/New Year working bee.

Meanwhile, spring/shockie units and a few other bits are receiving a coat of black paint.

I saw a new "half moon" head at Sandown in an open wheeler. I guess its one of the new USA cats heads. complete with half moons but nice big inlet runners :D Much easier to get big HP compared to the skinny little inlets on the original half moon heads.

cheers

I think there's a Larner assembled "new" half moon head motor going into another Mono too!

I'm making the boss for front mounted tachometer drive in magnesium at the moment.

Surface scratch, hopefully not hairline crack.

Easy to check with dye penetrant before you put it back together!
