Cosworth Mk 16 engine & Modern Counterpart

PostPost by: SJ Lambert » Wed Nov 27, 2013 3:38 am

I'm now tempted to have a go at the dowel hole with a 1/4" burr in a die grinder as I can move metal off the driving face with a file, hopefully it's just surface hardening on the walls of the dowel hole and a bit of attention with the die grinder may allow the reamer to get some purchase................

Len's out of those ones. They are not quite the same, I've got one of them headed my way & will use it if I can't get hold of a "Racing Engine by" one.

Thanks for the tip in any event.

No worries James - I didn't notice the subtle difference in the plaques!

I'll know which one to look for now - if I see one I'll let you know.

Cheers.

call me a non conformist but I think the alloy bits should stay alloy - don't know why Lotus ever painted them. Maybe it helped stop the oil leaks !

a good Christmas to all cheers

I like the bare alloy look as well.

Too late!

Making 'em look original can constrain one a bit!

At least the Escort's cam cover is largely in the bright!

ha ha. The cam cover is the only alloy piece I like painted. Black with the lettering in alloy looks good in the engine bay, a straight alloy version looks a little plain I like the red, green and blue versions if it matches the car colour also !.

cheers
