Blanking/restricting tube drilled for bearing feed, but not for cam lobe hole feed going in as a test measure.....

Nice lathe work... why not just plugging the cam holes with an aluminum tapered rod (could be smoothed flat and easy to check when removing the cover after some use)?

Holes that would be plugged are 60 thou diameter - have given strong consideration to plugging them with aluminium inserts, but figure that if 60 thou plugs were to fall out it could get ugly (unlikely I know) - the insert tube can't get away & won't be as effective as plugging the holes - will be monitoring it in any event - may yet plug holes if necessary......

Back to the Old Motor.

I've rebuilt the Lucas dizzie for the original motor and will now assemble the old mk16 with the long cam bolts for the sprocket mods all sorted out as well. I think the only outstanding task is to sort out the precise cam timing to aim for with the original run Cosworth L1 cams.

The set up is looking good but gee, that belt & tacho drive are a snug fit!

New cap and leads. They?re going on easier than the new caged condenser!

A little off topic but I owned an Elfin FF in 1975 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I think there were a total of (3) imported to the US. It was a nice car. Wish I still had it! :)
Good luck with yours.

That?s groovy! If you can recall the chassis number I may well be able to tell you where it ended up!

There?s an Elfin 620 FF that went to the States around 74/5 and was housed in the Car Collectors Hall of Fame in Nashville in the eighties & nineties before coming back to Australia (Queensland) in 1999!

SJ
I don't have any record of chassis numbers or even any pictures. The model number 620 rings a bell however. That was a turbulent period in my life. I remember there was another Elfin FF being raced in Colorado at the time. The car was a takeoff of the Lotus 72 with side radiators etc.. I only realize now how much I liked that car! :)
