I'm trying to find an Elan (baby) service update that shows the addition of two round vertilation holes in the engine bay. Can anybody help?

with thanks

Not aware of the service update, but my 72 sprint has these 2 holes on the n/s of the engine bay, at the top under the bonnet lip, they are covered by a piece of mesh held in place with a self tapper, and I always thought it had been done by a previous owner, but iv seen 2 other elans with the same holes in the same place!

I have some engine bay photos which show the position of the two vent holes, grill and washer bottle pump. If you send me a PM with your email address I can send you them.

I added them to my S4 when I rebuilt it on the basis that every little must help! :P

Susan Miller supplied a very similar mesh of the appropriate size then it was simply a case of a hole cutter and a self tapper in each corner ........ it looks as if it's always been there.

The modification is described in the Workshop Manual - Section K Cooling System, p.10.

Hi,
my S1 has these vents on both sides of engine bay. Happy to send pics if needed.
