Powerspark Failure

I fitted a Powerspark ignition module about 2000 miles ago and it seems to have stopped working. Anyone else had a similar problem and if so, did you replace like for like or try a different make?

Last year my Powerspark failed (less than 500 miles) on the way to the Oulton Park Gold Cup. Changed back to Points, ran ok but the heel wore down quickly and points therefore closed. Ordered a Petronix (Aldon), so far so good.

The Aldon Ignitor I fitted in 2002 is still going strong after 19 years and around 25000 miles. Only had 2 of the 4 magnets in the plastic sleeve come unstuck last year. Stuck them back in and it's all AOK again.

Fitted a Powerspark to my Sprint about 7 years ago no problem. Still runs perfect.
When fitting you need to check there is no Pip on the Base Plate in the Dissy and the Module fits nice and flat.
You may need to remove the Pip on the Base Plate.
Good clean and use the Thermal Grease.

Thanks for the advice. I followed what Alan said and filed off the pip on the module base and also smeared the base with heat sink compound. If this one fails I will buy an Aldon.

Hi Alan, the coil measures 3 ohms. Is that ok with a Powerspark module?
