Steering column electrical connections.

Back at the new dash wiring after 6 months off.
1967 UK version S3 VIN 456208.

New wiring harness from the UK for a RHD S3. The harness has 8 bullet connectors for the steering column connection. They are:

Horn Button
Left Turn
Right Turn
Headlight Hi Beam
Headlight Low Beam
High Beam Indicator Light
Headlight Relay
Headlight Flasher

There are only 7 connectors on the harness coming from the steering column. None of the wiring colors match any wiring diagram I can find. I assume these connectors are:

Horn Button (single bullet)
Left Turn (single bullet)
Right Turn (single bullet)
Headlight High Beam (triple bullet)
Headlight Low Beam (triple bullet)
High Beam Indicator Light (triple bullet)
Ground wire (single bullet)

Can someone verify the power source for the steering column? It appears it may come from the flasher unit through a green wire. If so, does it connect to the triple bullet connector? Also, is the ground wire from the column wired separately to a ground source, and is it's only purpose to connect the horn button to ground?
Also, is the Headlight Relay connector the power source for the headlights?

Thanks,

From your chassis no, the cars wiring will most likely follow a S2 diagram.
May help.

I have two blue/white wires. One is heavier gauge than the other. The heavier one is from the headlight relay and the lighter gauge one is connected to the High Beam Indicator light. I am thinking the one going to the indicator light plugs into the triple bullet along with the high and low beam connectors. And, the power to the headlights comes from the relay.

This is my S4 steering column wiring....not sure if the S3 would be the same. Note that some of the wire colours do not match up from column to loom.

Steering Column Wiring Connections (3).jpg and

The horn push is earthed through the column itself and there are bridge wires across the steering column coupling and from the rack to the chassis at the RHS rack mount.

Thanks to all. Solved with the help of the S4 wiring diagram. It matches mine perfectly. What I thought was a black ground wire was actually a very faded black/purple for the horn connection.

Unintended consistency from Lotus?
