Does anyone know if the Electric Windows Motors are Generic are specific to Lotus and are left and right hand ones
the same?

I think the same as 1973. Delcos.

They are a GM 'generic' fitted to many roof foldbacks in the US - in particular 1969 Chevelle, also windows on numerous Cadillacs, Buicks etc. Loads on ebay.com. I cannot work out how Lotus used them as they are not, as far as I could see, used on many UK GMs.

They are handed.

See loads on the subject in past threads.

They are handed. This US eBay seller has them as a pair and quotes free shipping to the UK. I'd check that out before buying them by contacting them directly because that doesn't sound right.

I haven't bought any and can't confirm that these fit, but they look right. There are several threads on the GM window motors.

Actually, he quotes 86 bucks shipping...

This is a common motor in your neck of the woods. Shop around if you ever need one as there are better prices. I shipped over two new ones - 80 each with shipping at 30, add a bit of tax and 'delivery' (read, greed) charges, landed here about £180....with some new window channel felt, all brand new slides up and down like a proverbial :)

Widen your horizons. I said above, the US is littered with them.

They are handed and marked LH and RH by GM. As implemented in the +2, they are used on the opposite side i.e. those marked LH go in the RH door and those marked RH on the LH door.

That's true. You can find them, new, for around $100 a pair with a five year guarantee, but I didn't find anyone to suggest that would ship outside the US at that price.

You'd be surprised Bud - start flashing the dollars and some people will do anything! Joking aside, I find Rock Auto really good. used them since my TransAm and Eldorado love affairs. Always there willing to help. You are lucky in the US where there is a much better service culture!

btw - I have found some ply to renew my boot/trunk boards that I might start tomorrow - I have your drawings out, so I hope your dimensions are sound...
