Ignition switch removal

PostPost by: Robbie693 » Mon Apr 26, 2021 11:53 pm

Hello,

Quick question - could someone tell me how the ignition switch is held in the column mounted lock on a Plus2 S/130? Is there some sort of grub screw holding it in?

Also can it be removed without dropping the column/pulling the dash etc?

Mine has a TINY grub screw. Takes a 1.0mm/1.5mm Allen key, can’t remember which.
No need to remove anything else (not on my car anyway).

Not sure if it is the same as the 2 Seater (Baby    ) Elan, but there is a plastic cap on the rear of the column mounted switch which snaps in place & there may be a screw that holds the switch to the column body. Picture below:

My Sprint does not have any screw or Grub Screw holding the SA157 ignition switch in place.

Thanks Phil, I do have a plastic cap but it doesn't stay in place. I think there must be a bit broken on it. Anyway the switch has never fallen out so something must be holding it in there. When the new switch arrives I'll find out for sure...
