Choke and heater cable length

I am in the process of installing a new dash in my 1965 S2 which I started restoring 5 years ago. Brian Buckland says replacing the dash is straight forward but it has been a P in the A. Today I struggled to fit the choke and heater outer cables but it does not seem to matter how I route them they are too short. Does anyone know what the correct length should be? Mine are heater 15.75” and the choke 19.5” (see attached photo)
