I have a 1970 Federal S4. Why do I have 2 door jam switches on the driver's side? I don't see it in schematics. How do I wire the second switch?
Thanks

Excuse my ignorance but what’s a door jam switch?

The second switch is for a warning buzzer, indicating you left the key in the ignition. Many owners disconnect them, because they hate the buzzer noise.

To wire it correctly, first you have to locate the buzzer. Hook up the power and ground and you’re done.

Steve,
It’s a Spieling mishtake or written in foreign language (US English) Jam = Jamb, as in door jamb. In the US they call Jam Jelly and I think Jelly is Jello, then there’s hoods vs bonnets, trunks vs boots, sway bars versus anti roll bars, and they all drive on the wrong side of the road.

Thank you Steve. Quick response. PO must have removed buzzer as there was a switch there!
I'll worry about it later.
And yes it is door jamb location - courtesy lamp type switch.
Dick.

Hmm... that's interesting, always wondered why I had a second as well... Also no wiring attached.

Do you have "puddle" lights in the door?

+2 have two switches. I assume one for interior light, one for puddle lights, as puddle lights need to be individually switched, unlike interior that needs to come on for either door.

...and some have three. The third for the key buzzer. One can never have too many door switches, I guess.

That might be true if there were any good, in my experience Lotus Door switches are next to useless
