Headlamp pull switch removal

PostPost by: djb222 » Mon May 11, 2020 4:20 pm

Removed all the switches lights etc from the dash today, the cigar lighter was a pain but came out ok but the ceramic heat shield was broken so may need to source another, but one unit is proving to be a right B@$*^%d to remove... the head lamp vacuum pull. I may have twisted the push bar but if I can get it out I think I can fix it. The tabs at the back do not want to budge. Any ideas?? Please.

Spring-loaded "button" in the knob...

John ;-)

Edit Looks like you've removed the knob?

No the knob is still there. Thanks, thought there was an easy answer, wouldn't mind but I've removed a fair few like this in the past...... just put it down to age.

There is a small hole in the side of the knob. Slide small dia rod down inside the hole to the bottom and push. This will release the spring loaded button at the bottom.

Thanks.... Success, Black Knob removed and yes I'd twisted the shaft so it wouldn't slide back and forth. Managed to dismantle it and straighten the shaft and will reassemble tomorrow. These head lamp pull switches are so hard to find, found a really rusty one for £80 and one of the usual suspects is selling just the black Knob for £40 +vat

You can buy the black plastic knob from "Rimmer Bros UK" it's Triumph Herald and much cheaper

I'm sure if you didn't tell someone they wouldn't notice. Unless they are wearing an Anorak
Got one on my sprint no problem
