Testing before installing the radiator

Good morning. It’s been quite a weird month or so, nothing to do with you fine gentlemen, since I’ve been back here. Before anything else I sincerely hope everyone is as well as can be under the circumstances.

Since I last checked in I have prepared and painted the engine bay and have a new radiator on order. It occurs to me that I will never have better access to the front nose of the car as I do now with everything out, and was looking for some ideas on things that I should be checking/servicing etc. before the radiator goes back in.

Steering rack gaiters etc. are already in the plan, I’m thinking more about headlights and any other related bits up in the very front of the car.

Thank you in advance for the shared experiences.

You could check out the headlight mechanism, but you'll need a vacuum pump. You might be able to "rent" one for free from a local auto parts place - I know the ones around here have them.

The only other thing I can think of is electrics - horns, lights, etc.. But the radiator isn't really an issue with access to those, so no real advantage to doing them now.

Thanks Steve - let me test the headlights. My car came without an installed radiator so I was picturing it restricting access to the relays etc, good to hear that won't be an issue.

Thanks for the response.
