S2 RHD wiring path

My 26R was a SCCA race car in the day and I took it all apart ~45 years ago. Now the challenge is putting it back together, more or less in its original 1965 condition. I don't recall what the harness was like in '74 and am not certain I have it but along the way I have collected bit and pieces, one of which is what I believe is an S2 harness. Because it's RHD, should the harness be handed or does most of the cabling run through the bulkhead on the left side as it does on a LHD car?

On my RHD car, the wiring passes through the bulkhead on the left side. It also passes through the left rocker panel for the rear section.

Thanks Mike, hoped that would be the case as the right side is pretty busy with the intake, remote reservoirs, etc.

Would still like an understanding if the harness itself differs between a RHD and a LHD car?

As I understand it the basic harness was the same with connectors on both sides for attaching the steering column loom. Not sure if the dash loom was handed but probably.

Jerry, It's been decades since I took apart my old RHD S2 and you have me wondering also. I just looked at the British Wiring website. They show only one harness and state it fits both RHD and LHD.

Wish you all the lick my friend! Keep all us "know it NOTs" up to date with what you find.

Frank,
One of the issues is I have is the combination of harnesses that I accumulated over the years, one of which came from an S3 that Don Gorey and I dismembered in Chicago, early 70s. Then there's some homemade mess of wires that may have been from mine as it was a CP racer with no regard to originality, just get the job done and finally a harness from what I believe may have been a street RHD car evidenced by the dash albeit in poor shape. Once I get to laying the loom in place I'll get a better understanding, right now I'm focused on the chassis/drivetrain. Jerry

Jerry,

I've an original S2 loom that I put away years ago from a car that had ~ 6500 miles on it, and my original 26R loom, I also have the details of which wires were repurposed or added for S2 26R's to power fuel, differential oil pumps if fitted which mine was.

If stuck let me know.

Vaughan,
Once I get start putting the loom in the car I'm sure I'll have some questions, certainly regarding the fuel and diff cooler pumps if nothing else. Thx
