Further to my last post....
I spent sometime over the last couple of days disassembling one of my headlamp units to see whether any of the parts need replacing, renovate them or just but another...and of course what's the cost....

Your headlamps look like the old sealed beam units. I've gone back to those after a number of years using Cibie and a couple of other replacement QH units that eventually tarnished their reflectors and became so dim that the sealed beams were an improvement. While we're on the subject what are others using for headlamps? Anyone using any sort of LED headlamps ?

Yes they are sealed units, Lucas 7285. Not sure how old mine are, but think they have been on the car some time.
I know the usual suspects can supply a halogen replacement kit.
