Hi all,

Quick question.

for the +2 130s

Does the coil have an internal resistor - or - is the resistor else where on the car.

If it is somewhere else - where can I find that dam thing???

If your stater solenoid has only 3 terminals, your car was not fitted with ballasted ignition so there isn't one to be found.

If your starter solenoid has 4 terminals, the 4th (smallish) one goes directly to the coil bypassing the ballast resistor. In many cases ballast resistors are implemented simply by using a resistive wire from the ignition switch to the coil, so it will be difficult to determine if it is a resistor or just a plain copper wire.

Where a discrete ballast resistor is fitted on an elan, it is usually a small black object directly fastened on one of the coil terminals.

Oodles of previous discussion on this topic, the search needed is "ballast resistor"
