Smith's speedometer

I've dismantled my Smith's Speedo to clean up the interior and replace the "putty" with o- rings, etc.. The small glass jewels for the low fuel and direction indicators have some kind of white sock (centre of picture) on the inside that possibly lines up with the bulb holders on the outer case... These look past their best... My question is how do they fit together with the bulb holder ? Or are they a cap / diffuser ?

Tight fit ( on the jewels ) rubber tubes , loose fit in the black tubes.

If you cannot find rubber tube of the correct size , heatshrink will do the job , so long as it's the right size and doesn't shrink too much...

John, Good call on the heat shrink.
I wrapped a cotton bud with tape to stop it shrinking other than over the jewel. Gentle heat with hotair gun and looks like it will work. Just needs trimming. Debating whether black will cause a shadow with the main backlight... Can change to white h/ shrink if need be.
