S3 or S2 wiring

I'm trying to sort out some wiring issues on my S3 Coupe but some things are just not
lining up with the S3 wiring diagram. Then I noticed the S2 diagram and its fuse box
looks just like what I have.

So, would a May '66 build 36/5727 S3 have an S2 wiring harness in it from the factory?? Or did a previous
owner install one?

I have worked on several S3's and every one without exception (but with the inclusion the electric windows) followed the S1/2 wiring diagram even down to the "swivel micro switches" on the headlight pods.
I have yet to see an S3 that corresponds with the "official S3" wiring diagram.

Changes to wiring took place during S3 production. Chassis No 63? close to S2 No Dip headlight relay, Chassis No 77? dip and head relays both on inner wing with change to micro switch on pods.
Your car would close to S2 diagram but don?t take colour code of wires for granted.

Interesting! Good to know. Good thing I didn't buy the S3 harness.

Greg,
My pre-airflow coupe's wiring is essentially an S2 w/ the addition of an electric window circuit. I even use the S2 schematic for my Super Safety. You'll find the color codes are much closer to S2.
