Which solenoid is correct for S3?

PostPost by: gjz30075 » Sat Nov 18, 2017 11:56 pm

Attached is a picture of my car, probably from the mid 80s (not owned by me at the time) and as
you can see, the solenoid is the square, modern type, like the one on my Sprint. Solenoid is still
on the car. So, is this solenoid correct for #5727 S3 or should it have the round type, with the
larger black button?

My car is a little later, but it had that type of solenoid.

I have a picture of what i assume to be a S3 (taken in 68) and that car has the round button type fitted.

Thanks guys. I'll probably go with the round button top one.

Mine is an S3 Coupe and has a round starter solenoid but it does not have a manual button.

Round one with the manual button as posted by Gordon Sauer. My S3 was delivered 24 July, 1967. #45/7279

The '66 S3 I have (36/5599 converted to a 45) has the black round push button style.
