Center High Brake Light ideas, please

PostPost by: Sea Ranch » Thu Aug 24, 2017 8:02 pm

Greetings. I've done the search and don't find a thread on this topic.

Wondering what people have done in this area. I have a Plus 2 I want to retrofit with a center high brake light. Always wanted it to be at the top of the rear windscreen/window, but the wiring and mounting are not nearly so easy (given the headliner attaches directly under the glass rubber seal, leaving no place to fasten light unit, nor to hide wiring). I am willing to accept a light mounted to the rear edge of the parcel panel, up against the inside of the rear window.

But what unit to buy? Angles? Problems with reflection off the glass window? Flasher devices?

Love to hear people's thoughts and experiences. Thanks!

Thanks. Great idea on the mount and hiding of wires. The best spot is definitely up high, as our cars are so low to begin with.

The link to the Summit Racing page is goofed by some shopping bot . . . :(

Could you send again?

thanks,

Whoa . . . Okay, don't hold back, John. Reveal!

Is this your car? If so, tell us what you've used, how you did it, is it working for you, what would you do differently, et cetera!!

I think that is the right one...

I think the details on John's are on the second page of the thread I linked to.

Okay, thanks, Mr Bell. I think I understand the link now (have to read through a page of viglink to find the "continue on to Summit Racing" link). Nice led unit.

And I knew this would happen to me: soon as I start a new thread, I discover there is a perfectly good discussion happening. Wish the search function worked better. Apologies to all.

And a good discussion there of how John did the 3 foot long led strip in his car. Great.

Really like the idea of pulsing center high brake light . . .

Has anyone given any thought to these flasher units? Some examples:

Interesting that the state of California has legislation, apparently, regarding the type of flashing your brake lights can do . . .

The state of California has regulations on about anything you can think of. I lived there for thirty years but they regulated me right into Nevada.

Nice. Thanks for that review. Definitely like what can be seen on their webpage, and lots of options in terms of flashing type et cetera.
