Sorry John, swinging the dizzy had no effect.

Mind you, even though all plugs were firing, a brand new strobe light also refused to work on No1 lead but did on No4!

Is it worth mentioning at this point that sold core spark plug wires must not be used with these distributors? There is a warning in red on the Pertronix site now. I discovered after making a beautiful set of solid core wires...

Thanks for that. It's fitted with ludicrously expensive Magnacor (?) competition leads. I've often wondered what was wrong with good old solid copper. Just as well I did not bother.

I'm using good old fashioned copper core leads. They are perfectly safe to use as long as you fit suppressed plug caps and an in-line resistor in the dizzy to coil lead.
