Car is Zetec spyder converted elan S4
I've fitted a VDO float type sender unit into my tank and it's connected to a VDO gauge, it works, but reads empty when the float is highest and full when it's at it's lowest, what am I doing wrong?
changing the wires around doesn't correct it.
any help appreciated - I am not an electrical person!!

HI

Is the sender unit mounted in the side of the tank ( like it is on the +2)
if so is it possible that the sender is upside down so can
you install it the other way round i. e rotate it through 180 degrees?

Hope this helps best of luck

Bob

Thanks Bob,
no I have an unusual tank, fitted between the chassis uprights, sender is mounted from the top and goes down into the tank.

If you have 3 terminals on the sender I might be able to help, otherwise by looking at it does it look like it can be reconfigured mechanically? The float moving to the other side, the resistance turning 180? something like that?

Been years since I used a generic VDO sender but I do recall it could be configured in several ways even the depth could be adjusted according to the tank.

Did you buy gauge sender as a set?

look up part numbers to make sure they are correct

SW and VDO gauges read opposite

No the sender, which is VDO came with the collection of parts I bought as an unfinished project, I bought the VDO gauge thinking they would be compatible. - where would I find the part numbers? - I've looked up VDO's site but couldn't het far with it.

Sender has just 2 terminals on the top, and it doesn't look as if the float could be moved to the other side, it can be lengthened with a longer wire.
