HI

I believe it is 3/8" BSP. That was the thread on my sender that bolted into the head by the thermostat housing.
That was on my +2 but don't know if my head was ever modified in the past. I would wait for a further confirmation.

Hope this helps best of luck

On my S2 two seater Elan, with the old type capillary gauge, the tapping in the head is 3/8 BSP with an adaptor to 5/8 UNF on the sender.

Thanks for responses - my Sprint has a Smiths electrical temp gauge but sender has gone bad, so I'm trying to get a replacement.

I was wondering if the +2 sender would fit but seems not, as my thread seems to be 3/8 UNF, albeit going into an adaptor screwed into the head (which is presumably a BSP thread).

I sourced a replacement from "Smiths" but it is 1/8 NSP, so won't fit, though I'm hoping to 'convert' the thread by running a UNF die down it - crossed fingers!
