Tudor washer pump

There's quite a few discussions on the forum about the Tudor "top hat" washer pump. On my +2 the pump had been reduced to just the bottom part, with an inline pump fitted. This seems to be common, as they don't seem to be available... Anyway, browsing on ebay last week I saw a Tudor washer bottle with what looked to be a similar pump (the pictures weren't very good). It arrived yesterday and from what I can see it's the same pump (the base is identical to what's left of the original and the rest of it matches other pictures). If anybody recognises the bottle it might point to a source.

The Tudor factory is about 6 miles from me, it now has a different name but it's the same people and they still make window washer bottles and the like.

I got an appointment with the production manager who had been there man and boy. The electric pumps were no longer available though he claimed he still had some original stickers at home. The washer bag had been contracted out to a manufacturer of swimming pool lining manufacturers and said they had gone long ago with all the tooling. They didn't have the tooling for the washer jets or washer bottle either.

Disappointingly he told me a box of old bits he'd kept under his desk for 25 years got thrown out about 6 weeks before my visit.

You're chances now appear to be with secondhand bits. The electric pumps will have dried out parts and you'll be lucky if they work at all or without leaking.

It matches the original pump and the pictures here (scroll down to smokey73):

It also works well, as good as the modern inline pump, so I must have been lucky (after testing I needed to wipe spray off the roof) :D

Check out this thread. Its the Top Hat pump for the S4. As close as you will get. I fitted one to my S4... EXPENSIVE for what it is...

I really do appreciate your replies as you are genuinely trying to be helpful.

The problem is I'm no longer looking for a pump as I've found an identical pump to the one on my +2 on ebay.

I posted the pictures because I thought it might help other people looking for a pump for their +2 (as in SeaRanch in the previous picture).

Going through the other posts I now see that there are two types of Tudor pump. An all plastic one used on the S4 and a part metal one used on the +2. The one I found on ebay is identical to the +2 one.

Unfortunately I've not been able to find the origin of the Tudor bottle, although a couple without pump have come up on ebay.

I apologise for not previously making myself clear.

Thanks,
Rob.

For those that are interested, the Rolls Royce washer pump supplied by Flying Spares fits perfectly into the Tudor washer bottle in my 1970 Elan S4SE without any adjustments.

It is new(!!!) and works well, and looks very similar to the original Tudor pump.

You decide if it is expensive!
