Fuel Gauge sender unit

Hi,
I suspect that this will be only the first of a long list of questions as I get my 1966 S3 fhc ready for the road.
question: is there any way I can bench test the fuel gauge sender unit before installing it and maybe having to pull it all out again?
appreciate any help.
thanks.
Mike

Yes,
It is only a variable resistor.
There are two types. One should read form zero to 90 ohms as you move the arm from one end to the other.
The later type is 20 ohms to 230 ohms
I expect your car to have the 90 ohm version but it may have been changed.

Mike, don't forget to use a 10v supply during your test. It is fed from the voltage stabilizer, and will read incorrectly if you are bench testing with 12 v supply.

It certainly would.....I suppose Stu is thinking of bench testing the sender against the gauge on the bench.
