Starter motor and spyder chassis

Hi All
Does anyone know if you need to mod a sounder chassis or starter motor.
Car passed the MoT last week and on the way home the back left wheel almost fell off - tightened by hand and got home. Then took it to a small classic car show and on the way home the gear lever came loose.
Then went to start it this week and the starter motor is just spinning away. Looked on the forums and rocked it in gear - gave it a little tap - took a plug out and churned it over by hand and still no luck.
So then I took the starter motor out and found this. You can see that the top mount is broken.
So I thought I would just flip it round however I'm now tho King someone modded the starter motor to get passed the bracket.
You can see that it doesn't quite look like a nut will fit?
Anyone else with a spider chassis have the same problem or should it fit?
Cheers
Gareth
