Lotus Elan and Lotus Elan Plus 2 Forums

Can someone show me what the OEM rear view mirror looks like for a 1969 Elan S4. I have two types that came with the car I bought, but neither of them seems right (they glue to the windshield?).

The first picture is of an old mirror and the second is of a new one (Wingard). Are either of these correct?



Photos of an original mirror for an S4 would be a great help! I have searched the forums and can't find anything.

Glen, Here are 2 pictures from my '69. It is 8 in. wide and about 2-1/4 in high. Let me know if you need anything else.

Mine is glued to the windshield. I think was re-glued by the PO in the 70s and it has held since then.

Thanks Phil and Bob. Looks like my old mirror isn't original and the new one is an acceptable replacement.

S4 Coupe mirrors are screwed to the plinth in the roof.

My 70 S4 was grub screwed to the tension rod in the center. It was cracked, so I bought a replacement from Ray, which I painted black. Dan
