The funny thing Bill is I was able to spin the impeller with a screw driver and it was free, but did not work.
Who knows what I did to get it to work so well? WD40 to brushes?

I've seen electric motors in other contexts get 'stuck' from age before, only to work just fine once the right persuasion is applied, be it a little spinning by hand, some lubrication, or who knows what. I'll echo the sentiment that having a spare is good.

The funny thing I can't understand is normally if an electric motor stops , jams or whatever. When it's switched on it will short out due to the bushes being in constant contact with the copper. This didn't happen.
Also it's spinning better than it ever did? A real roar! :D

One thing that matches your symptoms would be a brush stuck in its guide and held clear of the commutator. Then your WD40 dissolved whatever was sticking it and its spring pushed it back to the commutator.
