A Honda Civic battery fits in trough and then I used a fiberglassed in bobbin (from RD) to run a Z shaped bracket to hold battery on inner side and wedged against outer wall for outside support and with fit in trough portion of trunk, the Z bracket controls any rocking. Gordon Sauer

Pc1100 with 50mm2 cables. Get a smart charger to keep it in top condition.

The original battery was an 037 which had the Ford type - bolt through posts. If you have the more common round posts or are willing to convert you can fit the round post equivalent which is an 038 or can get an 015 which is the same size but has more CCA.

There should be a bracket in the battery well to locate it and a bobbin on the inboard side which takes a bolt and clamp.

Mine is missing all brackets/bolts/etc., could somebody post a picture of this hardware please? I'll get the car on the road at some point and a battery bouncing around in the boot wouldn't be good.

The battery itself is an Odyssey PC 925. No on-road experience with it as yet, but so far it seems to do a great job of starting the engine.

Veg.

Look on the UK race and rally design Website. It shows a folded sheet metal casing for it. Could you make one up like it in the same vein. I don't know rules in US for battery security.

Hi

I use a 015 Ducelier 12v 40ah 410cca battery with same fixing as robbie693

It cranks great and never lets me down, use a CTEK to keep it in good shape

Uses the bobbin on the floor and with one that sits in the pocket, a Maxx ever start 51R which is just Walmart I think, it doesn’t move around. I’m pretty sure that bobbin is in there from the factory but then I don’t know if I might’ve put it in or if they corrode out to the point you need to replace it, Gordon Sauer

The bobbin fixing is certainly original design, both my cars have that, as pictured with a bracket holding the bottom of the battery.

Fitted a physically smaller battery so made up my own securing bracket from alloy angle and 1/4” screwed stick.

The two original brackets I believe are as shown in the photos.
The bracket on the right (036 M 6005) is fixed with two pop rivets to the vertical body on the right hand end of the battery tray. The small horizontal lip retains the battery.
The bracket on the left (050 B 1207) is fixed with a 5/16" UNC x 2" bolt (or set?) to the bobbin in the base of the battery tray.
These are listed on page MA.3. of the Parts List but not illustrated.
It is not surprising that many of these have been lost/replaced particularly where the two pop rivets are attacked by sulphuric acid fumes in the boot and exposed in the wheel arch externally. The bobbin can also suffer similarly and disappear.
If you need any dimensions, please let me know.
