Hello, I am well in to a dash replacement and have one more gauge to take out, and I think I know the answer. Do I need to remover the metres of probe cable with the gauge or is there a way of disconnecting the gauge and probe cable from each other?
Thanks for your help, James

I think the springy looking cable stays with.

David- you are correct and it runs through the depths of the engine bay through to the nose. I am looking forward to next weekend already . Thanks
James

Final bit in nose is fixed by air box fixing bolt.

It is be piece all the way.

It is a copper capiliary wrapped in a steel "spring" that I have found to rust away completely !

The first one i did I burst the pipe... needed to be send away for repair and refill...

Second one I did. I very carefully wrapped the entire length with fabric electrical tape to add some protection
This one has been removed and replaced without any incidents ! Recommend you do not try and remove bends as that is when weakness is revealed.

Useful advice, thanks! Mine is intact and working, but the coil is very rusty. The last couple of feet are bent into loops about 6in diameter.

When you drew it back through the bulkhead, did you just 'wind' it through the hole? Did you manage to remove any rust from the coil?

All the best
Ned
