There's a listing on eBay for Elan window parts at the moment. Original Elan though so may not help you??

Looking at that link above: the diagram from the Parts List in the Wiki, shows that the Plus 2 window mechanisms are drastically different than those in the two-seater Elan.

But I don't see a spring..

All manual window winder mechanisms use a heavy spring like that, but I've never seen the spring sold separately. You could buy a used complete MGB or Midget window mechanism from ebay (or somewhere similar) and the spring might be the same, but I don't know if that is true.

Hi Rich

sorry for the delay. I think the spring is an integral part of the assembly. the whole assembly looks to be from DELCO in the USA and I have recorded info on the window mechanisms in my rebuild diary and info is given below

The motor were marked as follows :-
Drivers Side 051-73 5045594 B Delco Products L
Passengers Side 142-73 5045593 Delco Products R. the blade was marked with the numbers for both left and right hand parts 7960626 R and 7060627 L.

Not sure that a spring is absolutely necessary. I think the idea is a stop the window moving or bouncing under shock. they are very strong spring and when I stripped down my motored I have to make up a temporary jig to allo me to wind the spring. I arranged my springs so that they gave assistance on lift - not sure is that is correct but both seem to work OK

Hope this helps

Best of luck

Bob

To confirm.
The spring helps hold force upwards against window glass weight
