I did a search on this subject and there is some good info but I couldn't find anything about how to remove the broken cable part. Anyone know how to remove it?
Thanks,
Mr.Gale

Just punch out the quill from the geared end that's in your first picture using a suitable sized drift.
Make sure the replacement you buy is long enough, the one I bought from Caterham was too short.

I did as you suggested and got it out. I then taped out the inter sleeve. I have a speedometer cable that I think is the right size but do you have any idea how long the quill should be? If I can't get the speedometer cable to work do you have any idea where I could buy a quill? (preferably in the US)
Thanks,
Mr.Gale

I don't know the exact length, but I suppose if you measure the length of the geared shaft you removed the old quill from and added slightly less than the inside length of the gearbox drive, (or the broken piece shown in the 3rd picture of your 1st post) that should be okay.
I don't know who would supply the quills in the US...maybe RD but I'm sure someone on here would know.
Good luck,
Kev.
