+2 Rear Lights?

I've just seen an S 130/5 for sale that looks very pretty, except it seems to have rear light clusters
without a reversing light lenses. They do appear to Lucas lights as they are different to the early "carello" lights.

Does this indicate anything specific?

Yes. They have fitted Jag E Type lenses. Image
It is one way of getting an incorporated rear fog either both or one side if you want to.

Brilliant! I thought one of you clever chaps would know. Does make me suspicious why di they change both rear lights. Rear end crash?

RD?

It also seems to have been nicely retrimmed but in a somewhat unsympathetic manner.

The "E-type" lenses are also used on some Alfas. I guess there are more of those "lesser makes" on the road than there are of Lotus; so I guess they bought whatever they could get.

Might be worth a look to see if there is any bulb holders in there for the reverse lights. Might be lucky and they have changed just the covers if not i seem to remember some one on here modifying a light? (maybe worth a search)

Vince, the reference to RD is actually rdent.com. R. D. Enterprizes. They are vintage Lotus specialists in the US.

Can you post more pix of this "tarted up" Plus 2? It does look very nice from the one shot. Is that Lagoon Blue or some other colour?

"tarted up!" Really - I'm shocked.

Attached a few general shots. Strange tunnel cover, otherwise seems nicely done.

Although I'm not a fan of contrasting piping.

I'll put an entry into the "For Sale " forum when, or if, I get a reply from the seller.

If I had something other than black interior, that body colour would really tempt me.

Looks beautiful from the pix, albeit with a non-stock interior.

Interior is easiest part to change, and they sometimes come up for sale complete, when someone has changed out a set.

In any case, if you like, it's great. And more importantly, in regard to the body shell: is the paint work done well and are there any signs of gelcoat cracking, etc.

For goodness sake Randy, haven't you settled on a colour yet?
Last time I thought we agreed it was going to be sunburst
Kev.

Maybe you should change your black interior first. Then decide on a colour.

This is not my thread!

But since you mention, Kev, I'm still holding on to Glacier Blue metallic. But you're a fine one to talk: you already have the most beautiful colour and you're going to change it because it isn't year/period correct!

And I did say interior is easiest to change, didn't I, Vince? However, my interior is in very good condition and I'm trying to keep as much of the original car as possible. Besides, the only 2 colours available from Lotus for interior were black and "wheat" and I don't like the "wheat", so . . . what's a guy to do!!?

Carry on, Vince!

I've no problem with a non standard interior.

With a dark metallic blue exterior I would prefer a grey interior, but cream / beige is reasonable enough.

It is just that the central bit is strangely slab like.
