I'm hoping someone in the U.S. Can help me identify these lights, the large ones with the eyelid.
I think they are from a military vehicle,
I need two!

James can't help you directly but if you can either crop your photo or take another individual pic of the lamp unit you can try a Google image search. There's a chance you might find the source.

It looks like one from the Lucas 550 series, normally used as a rear number plate illuminator but with a clear lens. Many lamps in this series have rims with two ears with drilled holes for mounting to a panel with screws. The type used on the Type 14 Elite are a better match as these don't have ears on the rims. Try Holden Vintage & Classis or Vintage Motor Spares and see what they can suggest.

I have a Unipower and the same light with a clear lens is used for dashboard map light and rear tag light. I know they were used on Triumph Spitfires as that is where I got some replacements

Looks like a variation of the Lucas 550 lamp to me too. I have them on my Falcon bodied Sprite that won its class for the works at Sebring and LeMans in 1960. It uses one of these to illuminate the tachometer and a pair as side marker lamps on the front corners just below the covered headlamps.

550 lamps have a heavy rubber boot that has a groove around the larger diameter so that it snaps into a hole, IIRC of 1-1/8" diameter. I bought my replacements on ebay, search for 550.

If you don't mind, I'd also like to know as my S2 26R ran in 12 hours races from new and had two on each door to illuminate the numbers, the holes remain but the lamps have been lost.

My email is [email protected]

Cheers
