wiper motor gear Sweep degrees

PostPost by: vstibbard » Wed May 13, 2015 9:50 am

Hi does anyone have an S1/2 or 3 wiper motor out of your car? If you do, would you be able to do an simple check of the degree marking on the main gear which is under the pressed metal cover with 4 screws holding it down?

Im testing one installed in my S1 that is nearing end of its rebuild and the wiper arc seems to be wrong. Sadly I dod not note the figures and if wrong I have yet another dash pulled down job to face!!

Regards

Vaughan,

On my S4 the sweep is 110 degrees as stamped into the main gear.
Hope this helps you.

My pre-airflo FHC wiper assembly is on the bench beside the car, but I'm 900 miles away. I may be back for a short visit over the summer, but more than likely, it'll be November before I'm back to check on the car and finish it's restoration. But you probably don't want to wait that long.

Seems like some of the old Lucas parts books have data on wiper gears. I'll look to see what I can find.

When I fitted a new motor into our S3 I used a 110deg wheel. Seems fine!

Thank you, I'll take a punt on the 110Deg gear.

Cheers
