Hi All

So I've been installing the new dash everything was going well - the only things that aren't working is as follows:

- the left indicators (front and back)
- the left fog
- the left side light

Interestingly the front light and main beam works fine! I have checked and I have good continuity from the from the side lights and indicator and earth to the dash (reads 0.01).

I have checked the earth from the side lights to the chasis (fan) earth and again the continuity is good.

Oh I'm a complete electrics novice so go easy with me.

Any ideas where to go looking next?

PS the right hand side works perfectly even the flashing speed is good

Okay so some more digging around and I "think" the most likely cause is I've out the hazard wiring to the switch wrong. I "think" I've followed the wiring diagram however not sure! Does anyone have a mapping of the hazard switch and all the wires - I took loads of photos when I dismantled my dash but apparently not enough of the hazard switch!

Some more symptoms

When the key in the ignition (but the car not running) I get the following

- the left indicator will work but not the right when selecting it from the tree
- the left side light works
- the left fog does not work
- the hazard operates the right but not the left

Gareth, here is my attempt at how the stock turn and hazard flasher circuits work. Note I have not checked this on my car, just going off of the Plus 2S diagram. I changed these circuits completely during my rewire and set things up with one flasher unit.

I am guessing you may have either the Green / White wire pair and/or the Green / Red wire pair mis-connected at the hazard switch. Sorry, I haven't gone through all the logic, but basically reversing these wires could cause all kinds of mayhem with one turn signal not working and one side of the hazard not working. First carefully trace the two wire pairs with your voltmeter or ohm meter to make sure they are the correct way around.

The other trouble shooting option is to simply by-pass the hazard switch for now by connecting the Green / White pair together and the Green / Red pair together; this should get the turn signals working (or perhaps highlight a separate problem).

Took a second quick look at my Plus 2S wiring diagram after posting, and I note the dash turn signal pilot wires are shown as dashed lines. I expect this is to indicate a potential running change to the circuit configuration. The attached PowerPoint file shows one variant. Check your turn signal flasher unit and see if you have a wire connected to the 'P' terminal, which indicates a different variant, where the dash pilot goes to ground. Could be potentially confusing and result in crossed wires if your original loom and replacement loom are different.

Is the jumper wire present at the hazard switch? If it is missing, the Left indicator will not be powered by the hazard flasher, but would be correctly powered by the indicator flasher thru the column switch. Still leaves a second problem with the Right indicator though; always remember you can have two or more problems at the same time!

I also checked my Robinshaw & Ross, and they note the following running changes. What is your VIN and model?

• Change to the hazard switch at VIN 50 2526.
• Changes to hazard switch, front & rear lamp assemblies and windscreen at VIN 70.01.01.001N Federal
• Complete electrical revision 72.05....0272N

Don't get worried about the fog light yet; I expect it is a separate issue.

Hi Stu

Finally got 30 minutes away from the office to take a better look and quickly diagnosed the issue.

1. The right indicator had got disconnected between the stalk and the hazard
2. The right indicator was the wrong way round on the switch

Easy fix in the end - thanks for your help the diagrams were great!
