I had this last winter... Check for loose connections near the ignition switch & at the tacho.
I had a bullet connection come loose

As suggested when it happens again run a jumper direct to the coil

You are still lucky, back in 2013 the price went up to ?25+

Apparently they are not effective with electronic ignition, as the bigger fatter spark jumps the gap - That may be the sales pitch for an electronic rev limiter though.

I had an electronic ignition module fail and when I went to install a replacement I found that it wasn't making full contact with the distributor base plate. As I wanted my distributor mods to be reversible, I machined a groove in the mounting plate of the new module rather than knocking off the points adjustment posts. Here are a few photos showing the modification.
