Hi,
can anyone suggest a safe way to compress and re install the stronger spring when replacing the vacuum reservoir on a Plus 2 failsafe version, please?
Appreciate any help.

Hi Mike

when I did mine I was worried that the spring could release with a hell of a wack and possibly damage the body that I had just done up. I made up a simple tool that when the vacuum pod was out of the car I would pull a vacuum on it and then use the clamp to hold the pod with the springs in in tension until the whole assembly was placed in the car and the headlamp pod fitted. Other than the tool which can be lashed up with two small bits of steel strip I permanently fitted a small tag with the springs fixing screw so that the tool could be bolted in position. The tool was hinged in the middle so it could easily be removed and had a cut out in the vacuum reservior end to lock into position. I also added a small strip to support the front of the vacuum pod which seem to help the body flex less

I have attached a couple of pictures

Hope this helps best of luck

Bob
