Switch position for Electric Aerial and Heated Rear Screen?

I have acquired an 'Automatic' electric aerial, to replace the one that previously filled the hole in the rear n.s. Wing.

It is operated manually by a rather large, on-off-on, momentary rocker switch ('Automatic' ?)

Where exactly was the switch normal mounted ?

I would like to keep it mounted as ' discretely' as possible, but accessible, without drilling holes in the visible dash, or in the way of my knees ?

Also, I'm going to have the same problem with the Heated Rear Screen switch, when using the Hardtop - where does that normally get positioned ?

Any photo's or suggestions of installation positions would be greatly received !

Regards,

Phil.

Back in the day when the Automatic arial was the thing, car radios had a feed that came live when switched on and the arial would come up.

Jon,

Thanks for the reply.

I too thought this would be the case, but there are only 2 wires coming from the Aerial ( green and red).

In the box with the Aerial was a on-off-on rocker switch.

Seems the only way to get it to work was using the switch, which is rather cumbersome !

The only automatic part about the Aerial is it can't be over extended or closed, there's merely a ratchet the operates at both extremities of operation, thus protecting it from over extension/closure.

Seems I'm stuck with the switch - so wonder if anyone else has overcome the positioning issue?
Also, where to position the Heated Rea screen switch for Hardtop use?
Any one else??

Regards,
Phil.

This thread shows the position of the demister switch in my Sprint, it was factory/dealer fitted when new.

I have an electric aerial in my S3 with a similar latching push button switch in the same position as the Sprints demister switch.
EDIT:
Added a pic of my S3 aerial switch (latching)

Brian,

Thanks for the photo's.

I was thinking of somewhere like that to position the switches.

Many thanks,

Phil.
