Odyssey PC925

I've read posts where the PC925 fits in the S1/S2 battery box, but measuring my box and looking at the specs it looks like it may not fit. Dimension of the battery are listed as 6.64x7.05x5.83. I measured the box as being approx 5.75 wide so maybe it fits by turning the battery on it side? Not sure, anyone out there with one in the original box and did you lay it on its side to make it fit?

Hello Russ,
The Odyssey can be mounted in any position, including upside down. I have mine laying on its side in my Formula Ford and in my Elan.
A PC680 is a bit smaller, but even in the FF with a total loss electrical system, it will power the car for a 3 day race weekend without a recharge.

Looks like the 680 will work just fine plus it weighs 10 lbs less.

Plus one on the PC680 , I use one , will fit with room to spare , no issues cranking a twincam and if you have roll bar it gets crowded down where the box is ( 925 was not an option for me in a stock box). Another option and less costly than the Odyssey option is to use a Miata battery I went to Napa and they pull one off a shelf - fits fine in the standard set up .

Understood about the Miata battery. They are indeed cheap and fit in the required space.
What I Iike about the Odyssey batteries is the fact they lose almost no charge over long periods of storage and do not leak. The electrolyte is impregnated into a glass mat between the plates. The one in the FF lasted for more than 5 years, so I gave it a new life in the Elan.
