I posted an article higher up this thread explaining how the wiper motor / switch electrics work. This was written originally for the TR6. I have now adapted it so that the wiring colours match for the Plus 2 - at least for the early Plus 2.

So here is the modified file:

Hope this is useful.

Hi Alex,

I felt I had to chip in here as you've helped me along so many times in the past.

I can't offer too much help on the electrical problem, but have over 20 hrs of experience trying to fit the glove box - with the Dash already installed !!

Quite the worst job on the car, in my opinion!

Managed to do it, but in doing so caused some damage here and there, and to be honest, not really a job to be done after the dash is fitted!

There are little metal support angles fixed to the top, bottom and both sides of the glove box, fixing it to the back of the dash, the small ( 'blade headed' type ) screws are almost impossible to get at!

Not sure it's worth doing without first removing the dash?

I would remove the dash completely instead of doing the 'upside down in the footwell' approach!!!

I know you are thinking 'he's mad' but honestly - it's a struggle!

When you find out - remember who told you first!

Best of luck,

Regards,

Phil.

LOL.. I am very well aware of that situ Phil.. i have just had a footer with connections etc and tested the earth supply (fine).. So I said Och well. and left it working as is.

I have had me a good think about removing the box dash in and to be honest I think I would cut it out and possibly replace with a good mod (working on it) to allow the g/box to be removed simply. Possibly with no screws used.

So if I go for removing the glove box it will come out in bits and I would go from there. lol

Hows you?

Al' .....

PS... Cancer treatment going according to plan. Radio therapy (37 visits at 5 per week) All done with no issues at all (apart from very tired). Great info' from Grumpy bodger (Hope your well John).. So now just three monthly hormone injections. I don't like these at all as my body has totally changed and I have zero strength or energy.
Good new is the last PSA check Just before Xmas was < 0.1 .. Below what they measure to. So... I am OK for now.

I will put a wee report on the relevant post later ...

Happy new year to all.. Al' .....

Alex, if it's like my Sprint, it isn't difficult. The glovebox is retained by the cross head screws with cup washers visible around the edge of the box when the lid is opened. The only difficulty is that a normal length screwdriver is too long, but one of those cranked scredrivers will do it or, more easily, a quarter inch drive ratchet that takes removable tips.
Having removed them, it will come away, but not out, as the antitheft switch (and it's wiring) are still attached to the back of the glovebox. On the point of the antitheft switch; the 4 cables are soldered on, but the cable is unsupported, so this is an ideal opportunity to drill a hole next to the cable position and add a small plastic 'P' clip to secure the cable, relieve the strain and help isolate the soldered joints from vibration. I will never forget the black and rainy winter night when one of those 4 cables broke off leaving me stranded at nearly midnight! The temporary repair in the darkness was what they call 'character forming'.
Regards
Richard

Thanks Richard. :D

I did not replace the anti theft SW when I built the car.

It hardly ever leaves my sight and I use very visible (and big!) anti theft 'things' when it does.. lol...
