I found this : http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-UKC4187 which I may try as I already have BA7 bulbs and it seems the only place I can find 12V 2W capless is online, which is ridiculous!

At least I have a couple of options now.

All done and now the light goes out when it should. Hurrah! Although I did have a vain hope that it would improve my charging at idle but no joy on that one.

The bulb connector mentioned above was no use - it was for capless bulbs despite the product description saying otherwise. So I had to source some 2W capless which was surprising hard; the common rating is 1.2W which is for most dash light applications.
