I am recreating a heater knob for my S3 - does anyone have an image of the flame logo on their heater knob that they can post - I want to find a way to get it printed and fitted inside the knob.

Thanks

David

I have this on my computer but not sure it will help as it has the camera flash reflection, I could probably take another without flash tomorrow if no one else posts.

Are these not Triumph knobs? They look remarkably like the ones that were in the Heralds I had. I remember that my 1200 coupe had black backgrounds but I'm sure the others were silver.

Like you are suggesting, I tried to recreate the logo for a heater knob that I had. I copied the logo from an image in Brian Bucklands book and then printed the logo on transparent film that is used for overhead transparencies with an inkjet printer. I dismantled the knob I had and cut the logo to fit inside. One word of caution and something that I didn't recitfy completely is that the transparent cover of the knob is quite an effective lens and as such the logo does get magnified so you need to print it a bit smaller than it appears in the photos above. I am not completely happy with my final result, but it is a lot better than what I had previously, which was a aftermarket choke knob!

In Brians book they are quoted as being of Ford origin, however, everytime I see a ford Anglia/cortina/Zephyr I peer through the windows and I have yet to see this type of knob on the heating system. Most seem to be a slide type system. So your suggestion of a Triumph origin may be correct, and I will start peering into every triumph I see now. I did managge to get three knobs and cables of the correct style, but none had logo's or the lenses.

Hi There

The knobs shown in the pictures are the same as those from the Ford Anglia and they are not Triumph parts which are a very slightly different shape.
I would agree that there is no actual "Heater" knob in the Ford so my guess is it's a Lotus special but considering the numbers of Elans and Europas (which uses the same knob) built, I wouldn't have thought Lotus would have had any problem getting Ford (or whoever it was who supplied the knobs to Ford) to make these. They would, after all, have only have needed a special sticker as the rest of the knob is the same and they would have been talking of some 20,000 plus units.
